A crisp, tart, and gently sweet fall cocktail that balances fresh apple cider, blanco tequila, lime juice, and a warm cinnamon sugar rim. Perfect for cozy nights or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz fresh apple cider (unfiltered, refrigerated)
  • 2 oz blanco tequila (e.g., Espolòn or Casamigos)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau or triple sec)
  • ½ oz maple syrup or agave nectar
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon (about ⅛ tsp)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for rim)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for rim)
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)
  • Optional garnishes: thin apple slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon sugar rim: Mix 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon on a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture, twisting gently to coat. Tap off any excess. Set the glass aside.
  2. Juice your limes: You’ll need about 1 ounce of fresh lime juice per drink. Roll the lime on the counter before cutting to get more juice out. Strain the juice if you don’t want pulp.
  3. Fill your shaker with ice: Use big cubes if you have them. Fill the shaker about halfway.
  4. Add the tequila: Pour in 2 ounces of blanco tequila.
  5. Add the apple cider: Pour in 2 ounces of fresh apple cider.
  6. Add the orange liqueur: Pour in 1 ounce of Cointreau or triple sec.
  7. Add the lime juice: Pour in 1 ounce of fresh lime juice.
  8. Add a touch of sweetener: Pour in about ½ ounce of maple syrup or agave.
  9. Add a pinch of cinnamon: Just a tiny pinch (about ⅛ teaspoon) into the shaker.
  10. Shake vigorously: Put the lid on your shaker and shake hard for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels cold.
  11. Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice: Do not use the ice from the shaker.
  12. Strain the cocktail into the glass: Pour over the fresh ice, being careful not to disturb the rim.
  13. Garnish and serve: Add a thin apple slice, cinnamon stick, or star anise if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use fresh lime juice and chill your glass beforehand. The cinnamon sugar rim can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container. To make a batch, multiply ingredients by number of servings and mix in a pitcher (without ice); rim glasses just before serving. Leftover cinnamon sugar mixture can be stored for weeks.
