A silky, dairy-free chocolate mousse alternative made with ripe avocados, cocoa powder, and natural sweeteners. Easy to prepare and perfect for make-ahead desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup or agave nectar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup almond milk or any plant-based milk
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or a sprinkle of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cut 2 ripe avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into your blender or food processor bowl.
  2. Add 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder to the avocado.
  3. Pour in 1/3 cup maple syrup or agave nectar.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt.
  5. Add 1/4 cup almond milk or your preferred plant-based milk.
  6. Blend everything together for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness by adding more sweetener or a splash of milk if necessary.
  8. Transfer the pudding into serving bowls or jars, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  9. Before serving, add your favorite toppings like fresh berries or chopped nuts.

Notes

Use ripe avocados that are soft but not overripe for best texture. Adjust sweetener to taste. Chill pudding for at least 1 hour for best flavor and texture. If pudding is too thick after chilling, stir in a teaspoon of almond milk before serving. Avoid freezing as it changes texture. Variations include adding peanut butter, mint, berries, or swapping sweeteners.
