A quick and festive gingerbread whipped coffee that comes together in under 5 minutes with simple pantry ingredients. Perfect for busy mornings when you need a cozy holiday treat without the fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules (e.g., Nescafé Gold)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (white or raw)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (just off the boil)
  • 1 teaspoon gingerbread spice blend (store-bought or homemade: 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground ginger, 1/8 tsp nutmeg, pinch ground cloves)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 cup milk (any kind: dairy, oat, almond, or soy)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for iced version)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine the topping ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, add 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons hot water, 1 teaspoon gingerbread spice blend, and vanilla extract if using. Stir briefly to dissolve.
  2. Whip until stiff peaks form: Using a hand mixer on medium-high speed or a whisk, beat the mixture for 2-3 minutes until thick, glossy, and holds stiff peaks.
  3. Warm your milk: While the topping whips, heat 1 cup milk in a small saucepan over medium heat or in a microwave-safe container for 60-90 seconds until steaming but not boiling. For iced version, skip this step and fill mug with ice.
  4. Assemble your drink: Pour hot milk into a mug, leaving about an inch of space. Gently dollop the gingerbread whipped topping on top. Do not stir.
  5. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle a pinch of gingerbread spice or cinnamon on top. Add whipped cream if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh instant coffee for best results. Hot water is essential for dissolving coffee and sugar. Bowl must be clean and dry—any grease will ruin the foam. Topping deflates after about 10 minutes, so serve immediately. For dairy-free, use oat or coconut milk. For lower sugar, reduce to 1 tablespoon (texture will be less stiff).
