These Halloween fruit kabobs with yogurt dip are the perfect spooky treat for fall gatherings. Made with ghost-shaped bananas, pumpkin oranges, and a creamy vanilla-honey yogurt dip, they’re quick to assemble, crowd-pleasing, and naturally healthy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large bananas (firm but ripe)
  • 3 clementines or small oranges (peeled and separated into segments)
  • 1 cup green grapes (seedless, firm)
  • 1 cup red or black grapes (seedless)
  • 2 kiwis (peeled and sliced into rounds)
  • 1 cup strawberries (hulled and halved)
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 apple (any variety, cored and cut into chunks, tossed with lemon juice)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure)
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (fresh squeezed preferred)
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • 16–20 bamboo skewers (6-inch or 8-inch)
  • Edible eyes (optional)
  • Black sesame seeds (for decorating banana ghosts)

Instructions

  1. Make the yogurt dip first. In a small mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla extract, orange juice, and cinnamon if using. Whisk until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Cover and refrigerate while you prep the fruit.
  2. Wash and dry all your fruit thoroughly. Pat everything dry with paper towels to prevent slippery skewers.
  3. Make the banana ghosts. Peel the bananas and cut them into 1-inch chunks. Hold each chunk and use a small paring knife to carve a gentle point at the top (like a ghost’s head). Make two tiny slits for eyes. Press in black sesame seeds or edible eyes if using.
  4. Create the orange pumpkins. Take clementine segments and use the tip of your knife to score three or four tiny lines on the curved side of each segment, mimicking pumpkin ridges. For the stem, press a tiny piece of green grape or a small mint leaf into the top.
  5. Prep the remaining fruit. Cut the kiwis into rounds about 1/4-inch thick, then cut out a tiny ‘V’ shape from one side for monster mouths. Halve the strawberries lengthwise. Cut the apple into chunks and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  6. Assemble the kabobs. Lay out all prepped fruit. Take a bamboo skewer and start layering fruit in a pattern or randomly. Push fruit close together so the skewer doesn’t show much between pieces.
  7. Create themed kabobs for variety: monster kabobs with kiwi rounds, blueberry eyes, and strawberry tongues; pumpkin patch kabobs with orange segments and green grapes; ghost train kabobs with banana ghosts and white grapes or apple chunks.
  8. Arrange on a serving platter. Place the yogurt dip bowl in the center. Arrange kabobs around it like spokes on a wheel, with fruit ends pointing outward and skewer handles toward the dip.
  9. Add final touches. Sprinkle extra blueberries and black sesame seeds around the platter. Scatter a few loose edible eyes around the dip bowl if using.

Notes

For best results, prep fruit (wash, dry, store in separate containers) up to 24 hours ahead, but assemble kabobs no more than 2 hours before serving. Keep banana ghosts separate until right before serving to prevent browning. Dip your knife in lemon water before cutting bananas to slow browning. Soak bamboo skewers in water for 10 minutes before using to prevent splintering.
