A quick and festive Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in buttery crescent dough strips to look like mummies. Perfect for last-minute gatherings and fun for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz / 227 g) crescent dough (Pillsbury recommended)
  • 8 regular-sized hot dogs (beef or turkey)
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Optional: small pieces of cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • Cooking spray or butter (for greasing baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your baking sheet with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide to mimic mummy bandages.
  3. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel to help the dough stick better and prevent sogginess.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, leaving small gaps to mimic mummy wrappings. Start at one end and wrap diagonally, overlapping slightly until mostly covered.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart for even baking.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through. Check after 10 minutes to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 2–3 minutes on a cooling rack.
  8. Use yellow mustard to dot two small eyes on each mummy between the dough strips using a squeeze bottle or toothpick.
  9. Serve warm with favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard, or cheese sauce.

Notes

If dough tears while wrapping, patch with extra strips for a rustic look. For crispier edges, broil for last 30 seconds but watch closely to avoid burning. Use turkey hot dogs for a leaner option. Add cheese inside dough for a melty surprise or sprinkle spices like cayenne for a spicy twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 2 days; reheat in oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes to keep dough crispy.
