These mummy-wrapped hot dogs are a quick, fun, and delicious Halloween dinner that kids and adults love. Hot dogs are wrapped in crescent roll dough, baked until golden, and finished with mustard eyes for a spooky, adorable presentation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 can (8-count) crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 teaspoon yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. Press perforated seams together to form a solid sheet.
  3. Cut dough lengthwise into 8 even strips, each about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with a dough strip, starting at one end and leaving small gaps (about 1/4 inch) between wraps. Press end to seal.
  5. Place wrapped hot dogs on prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush a thin layer over each wrapped hot dog.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes.
  9. Using a toothpick or knife tip, dab two small dots of mustard on each mummy for eyes.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature dough and don’t overwrap. If dough unravels, secure with toothpicks and remove before serving. Can be wrapped up to 2 hours ahead and refrigerated. Freeze unbaked mummies for up to 3 months; bake from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes.
