A creamy, rich, and perfectly textured overnight oats recipe combining chocolate and peanut butter for a quick, indulgent, and healthy breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup rolled oats (45 g)
  • ½ cup milk of choice (120 ml) – dairy, almond, oat, or soy
  • 2 tablespoons natural unsweetened peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: sliced bananas, chopped peanuts, mini chocolate chips, shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl or storage jar, add ½ cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon chia seeds (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix well to distribute evenly.
  2. Add wet ingredients: Pour in ½ cup milk, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey, and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir or whisk vigorously until fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. Check consistency: Ensure the mixture is liquid enough to soften oats overnight but not too watery. Add a splash more milk if too thick. The mixture should fill about ¾ of the jar.
  4. Seal and refrigerate: Cover the jar or bowl tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight.
  5. Serve and garnish: Stir the oats well in the morning. Add desired toppings like sliced bananas, chopped peanuts, or mini chocolate chips. If too thick, stir in a splash of milk before serving.

Notes

Use rolled oats, not instant, for best texture. Warm peanut butter slightly if too thick for easier mixing. Adjust sweetness after soaking if desired. Can substitute peanut butter with almond, cashew, or sunflower seed butter for allergies or preferences. Store leftovers in airtight containers in the fridge up to 4 days. Stir in a splash of milk before serving if oats thicken too much.
