Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (2-3 lb) boneless, skin-on turkey breast (or bone-in)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ยฝ teaspoon black pepper
  • ยฝ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ยพ cup whole berry cranberry sauce (canned or homemade)
  • ยผ cup orange juice (fresh squeezed or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (packed, light or dark)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest (from about 1 large orange)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ยฝ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ยผ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ยผ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Take your turkey breast out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  2. Rub the turkey breast all over with the olive oil. Mix the salt, pepper, and garlic powder together, then sprinkle it evenly over the entire surface. Place the turkey breast skin-side up in your roasting pan or baking dish.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberry sauce, orange juice, brown sugar, orange zest, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, ginger, and cayenne (if using). Whisk until smooth. Let it come to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it bubble for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Place the turkey in the preheated oven and roast for 30 minutes. Do not open the oven door during this time.
  5. After 30 minutes, carefully remove the turkey from the oven. Brush a generous layer of the cranberry orange glaze all over the turkey breast, using about half the glaze. Return the turkey to the oven and roast for another 15 minutes.
  6. Pull the turkey out and brush on another layer of the remaining glaze. Roast for another 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature in the thickest part of the breast reaches 160ยฐF (71ยฐC).
  7. Start checking the temperature around the 55-minute mark. Insert your thermometer into the thickest part of the breast, avoiding the bone if using a bone-in breast.
  8. Once the turkey hits 160ยฐF, remove it from the oven and tent it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  9. After resting, transfer the turkey to a cutting board. Slice against the grain into ยฝ-inch thick pieces. Drizzle any remaining pan juices over the top. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a bone-in turkey breast, add 15-20 minutes to the cooking time. If the glaze starts to burn before the turkey is done, tent loosely with foil. Letting the turkey rest for 10-15 minutes is crucial for juicy meat. Double the glaze and set aside ยผ cup to serve on the side.
