These Witch’s Brew Halloween caramel apple pops combine crisp Granny Smith apples with gooey, buttery caramel and festive decorations for a fun, mess-free treat perfect for Halloween celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Granny Smith apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for homemade caramel) or 1 bag (about 14 oz/400 g) soft caramel candies
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons (60 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) dark chocolate, melted (optional, for drizzling)
  • Sprinkles or crushed nuts for decoration (optional)
  • Popsicle sticks or wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove stems and slice each apple into 8 wedges. Insert a popsicle stick or wooden skewer halfway into each wedge. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet. (10 minutes)
  2. Make the caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar, stirring constantly until golden amber. Add butter and stir until melted. Slowly pour in heavy cream while stirring. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and sea salt. (15 minutes)
  3. Dip the apple pops: Quickly dip each apple wedge into warm caramel, swirling to coat completely. Let excess drip back into the pan. Place coated apples on the parchment-lined sheet. Rewarm caramel if it thickens too much.
  4. Add decorations: While caramel is warm, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the pops or sprinkle with festive sprinkles or crushed nuts. (5 minutes)
  5. Let set: Allow caramel apple pops to cool at room temperature for about 20 minutes or until caramel firms. For faster setting, refrigerate for 10-15 minutes but avoid leaving too long to prevent stickiness.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Serve on a platter or wrap individually for trick-or-treaters or guests.

Notes

Keep caramel warm on low heat or reheat gently if it thickens too much. Use dry apples for better caramel adhesion. Work quickly when dipping as caramel sets fast. For dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream and butter with coconut cream and coconut oil. Store leftovers wrapped in refrigerator up to 3 days; bring to room temperature before serving.
