Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 large head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 bunch of broccoli, cut into small trees
  • 1 bag baby carrots (about 16 oz)
  • 1 English cucumber, sliced into rounds
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 head purple cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced

Instructions

  1. Make the Creamy Ranch Dip: In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, and 1/2 cup buttermilk. Whisk until smooth. Add the ranch seasoning mix, fresh dill, chives, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well incorporated. Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prep the Spooky Veggies: Wash and dry all vegetables thoroughly. For ghost cauliflower, break cauliflower into medium florets (use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter if desired). For witches’ fingers, carve a small knuckle line on each baby carrot and add an almond sliver or cream cheese at the tip. For monster eyes, slice cucumber into 1/4-inch rounds, scoop out a tiny divot in the center, and place a slice of black olive in the divot. For bloody fingers, cut red bell pepper into thin strips. For gob…
  3. Assemble the Spooky Tray: Spread shredded purple cabbage evenly across a large platter or cutting board. Place the dip bowl in the center, slightly off to one side. Arrange the veggies in groups around the dip: ghost cauliflower near the top, witches’ fingers along one edge, monster eyes together, and broccoli trees around the edges. Scatter black olive slices around like spiders.
  4. Chill and Serve: If not serving immediately, cover the tray with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 4 hours. Take it out about 15 minutes before serving to take the chill off.

Notes

For best flavor, let the dip rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Dry veggies thoroughly to help the dip stick. Imperfect shapes look more authentic and spooky. Keep the tray cold for serving; nestle the dip bowl in ice for parties.
